Small studio. No shortcuts
Bonsai Digital is a Japan-based studio run by an engineer raised in the US, with experience at Meta, Bosch, and Toyota. We build websites, web applications, internal tools, AI agents, and AI systems. We are engineers first: proper system design, clean architecture, and security are the baseline here, not an afterthought.
Building something that stays secure and holds up under real use is engineering, and that is the standard we work to. And whatever you are building, you work directly with the person building it. No account managers, no ticket systems, just clear communication in Japanese or English.
Why we started
A lot of good businesses around Tokyo are still running on a site somebody built ten years ago. Some have nothing at all. That is fixable, and it changes the impression people form long before they walk in the door. So we tend to build the site first and bring it to the meeting. It is easier to talk about something you can click than something described in a proposal.

How we work
Speed
Most of the time there is a working demo inside a week. Often we build it before the first meeting, so you have something to click instead of a proposal to read.
Built from scratch
No templates, no page builders. Everything is written for your business, so it loads faster, holds up better, and can be changed later without a rebuild.
Made for real users
The people using it are usually not technical, and usually on a phone. We design for that, and test on real devices rather than a browser window on a laptop.
